Workshop Details
July on Cape Cod is a garden paradise! Some of the most beautiful gardens in America can be found here. Join award-winning Colorado-based flower and garden photographer, Charles Needle, on a tour of six breathtaking private gardens on the Cape — including several new ones this year — at the peak of summer growing season.
Charles will guide you through the technical craft of flower and garden photography, and you’ll receive lots of personalized hands-on instruction from him, both in the classroom and in the field. Learn tips and techniques for capturing unique close-ups and intimate garden landscapes. Topics covered will include: Impressionistic flower and garden photography, creative macro, in-camera multiple-exposures, soft-glow montage and creative smartphone photography. There will also be field demos, assignments and supportive group image evaluations.
All skill levels and camera formats welcome, including smartphone cameras. Students should also have basic proficiency in post-capture image editing software, such as Lightroom, Photoshop or Snapseed.
INCLUDES
Five days of photography instruction in both the classroom and in the field, including field demos, classroom lectures, stimulating assignments, and supportive group image evaluations.
DOES NOT INCLUDE
Airfare, airport transfers, transportation, lodging, meals, optional trip insurance, COVID-19 testing prior to arrival or departure (or during the workshop), and other incidentals such as laundry, phone calls, tips & gratuities, etc.
LODGING
A variety of accommodations are available on Cape Cod. Email Cape Cod Art Center for a list, or call 508-362-2909. We suggest you book your room VERY EARLY, as July on the Cape is one of the most popular times to visit.
All classroom sessions will be held at the Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable, MA (3480 Route 6A; Barnstable, MA 02630).
GETTING THERE
Daily flights are available into Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), a 75-minute drive from the Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable.
